About The Position

This role is responsible for operating the 5144 Evol machine, ensuring safety devices are in place and functioning, and maintaining quality and output standards. The operator will perform various setup, operation, and quality control tasks throughout the production process, including managing print dies, calibrating the machine, and monitoring the MDC system. The position requires attention to detail to ensure product quality and accurate counts, as well as the ability to react to operational issues like jam-ups.

Requirements

  • Ability to make sure all safety devices are in place and working properly.
  • Ability to use centerline on set-up at all times.
  • Ability to raise pre-feeder up and run back.
  • Ability to zero machine, open machine, and lock out; start wash up.
  • Ability to set anilox rolls to zero. Pull old print dies.
  • Ability to check flow card, print card, construction card and print die number.
  • Ability to hang print die for next order. Set pull rolls.
  • Ability to set kicker and stroke. Set calibration and registrations from center line sheet.
  • Ability to help crew members if necessary. Close machine. Ink machine.
  • Ability to run box through to check all dimensions. Set stacker and bundler for upcoming order.
  • Ability to keep sheets picked up on stacker or feeder while running order.
  • Ability to use the run procedures to ensure machine run is performed correctly.
  • Ability to control the machine’s speed to produce a quality product at a maximum level of output.
  • Ability to check bundle count on first handful as it leaves the C/E.
  • Ability to check to make sure that boxes are glued properly.
  • Ability to check stacking plan, load tags, and unit count on first load.
  • Ability to set aside two bundles of quality boxes to use as replacement boxes for defects.
  • Ability to pull all defectives found during inspection and replace them with good box from bundles set aside.
  • Ability to confirm that final count matches bundle spec. (Replace same number as defects pulled)
  • Ability to count scrap boxes to confirm equal # of replacements. If this number is incorrect, add difference to final unit.
  • Ability to check and fold up at least one box per unit. Check and maintain constant ink and glue flow.
  • Ability to watch for and react to jam-ups. Stack all bad sheets for reuse, waste to scrap cart.
  • Ability to check to make sure the MDC system is operating correctly during the beginning, middle, and end of each order.
