About The Position

Our client, located in Carteret, NJ, is seeking a skilled and experienced 5-Axis Machinist to join their precision manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of multi-axis machining processes, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. They will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating 5-axis CNC machines to produce high-quality components in accordance with technical drawings and specifications.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or an associate’s degree in machining, manufacturing, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a CNC machinist, with at least 2 years specializing in 5-axis machining.
  • Proficiency in programming and operating 5-axis CNC machines (e.g., Haas, Mazak, DMG MORI, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of CAD/CAM software and CNC programming.
  • Knowledge of material properties and machining techniques for wood a plus.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring tools and inspection equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve machining and programming issues effectively.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Program, set up, and operate 5-axis CNC machines to produce precision components.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) symbols.
  • Develop and edit CNC programs using CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of CNC machinery.
  • Inspect finished components to ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications using precision measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, CMMs).
  • Optimize machining processes for efficiency and productivity while maintaining product quality.
  • Monitor and manage tool wear and make necessary adjustments to ensure accurate machining.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and other machinists to resolve technical issues and improve processes.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with company safety protocols.
