About The Position

The CNC Machinist supports second‑shift production operations by preparing tooling and materials, coordinating efficient CNC machine setups, and manufacturing high‑precision components. The role works closely with programmers and management to streamline workflow, uphold quality standards, and ensure that finished parts meet customer requirements and contribute to safe, reliable product performance. This position follows a 2nd shift weekend schedule: Monday - Friday 5:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Adequate years of CNC equipment operation experience as determined by Karman.
Detail‑oriented, organized, and able to communicate effectively with all levels of management.
Experience with Siemens 840D and Fanuc 31i‑B5 controls.
Strong blueprint interpretation skills.
Thorough understanding of machine setups, tooling, and cutters.
Ability to communicate directly with internal customers.
Training in applicable changes and customer requirements.
Knowledge of Quality Management System (QMS) reporting, record keeping, and process adherence.

Responsibilities

Implements AS9100 procedures and supports continuous improvement efforts.
Maintains clean, organized work areas and performs general upkeep of CNC machines.
Cleans, inspects, and properly stores fixtures and tooling.
Coordinates machine prioritization with management to support production needs.
Collaborates with programmers to streamline setups and reduce manufacturing time.
Requests cutters, tooling, and related resources to support machining operations.
Operates CNC machines to produce high‑precision components.
Reports quality or workflow concerns and recommends improvements to management.
Evaluates potential impacts of product failures on customer requirements.
Performs additional duties as assigned.
