About The Position

AST SpaceMobile is building the first and only global cellular broadband network in space to operate directly with standard, unmodified mobile devices based on our extensive IP and patent portfolio and designed for both commercial and government applications. Our engineers and space scientists are on a mission to eliminate the connectivity gaps faced by today’s five billion mobile subscribers and finally bring broadband to the billions who remain unconnected.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (technical certification preferred)
  • 2–5+ years of experience operating 5-axis CNC machines in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
  • Ability to independently perform machine setups
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and accuracy

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in aerospace or high-precision manufacturing environments
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam) and G-code programming
  • Experience machining aluminum, composites, or aerospace alloys
  • Knowledge of process optimization and continuous improvement practices

Responsibilities

  • Operate 5-axis CNC machines to manufacture complex aerospace components with tight tolerances
  • Perform complete machine setups, including tooling, fixtures, offsets, and workholding
  • Load, verify, and adjust CNC programs to ensure accuracy and efficiency
  • Monitor machining operations and make real-time adjustments to maintain quality and performance
  • Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, and work instructions
  • Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
  • Ensure all components meet aerospace tolerances and quality standards
  • Identify and document non-conforming parts in accordance with quality procedures
  • Diagnose and resolve machining issues such as tool wear, chatter, and offset discrepancies
  • Optimize feeds, speeds, and tool paths to improve efficiency and part quality
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and process enhancements
  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance (coolant checks, lubrication, cleaning)
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Adhere to all OSHA, company safety policies, and aerospace compliance standards
  • Partner with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve technical issues
  • Accurately complete job travelers, ERP entries, and production documentation
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior team members as needed
