About The Position

The 4th Grade Teacher supports student achievement by establishing effective classroom procedures and a climate of openness, fairness, mutual respect, support, and inquiry. The teacher engages students in grade-level learning through active, hands-on instruction and conversations among students and between students and the teacher.

The role uses formal and informal assessments and student data to guide instructional decisions and continually improve learning. The teacher collaborates on lesson plans, maintains a digital gradebook, communicates with parents about student progress, keeps required records, and participates in professional learning communities and professional development to meet students’ needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Education or in the field of instruction.
• Florida Teaching Certification in the subject area.

Responsibilities

• Use classroom procedures that support effective teaching and learning and promote high student achievement.
• Develop a classroom climate and culture of openness, fairness, mutual respect, support, and inquiry.
• Engage every student in grade-level learning experiences that promote performance.
• Design lessons that promote engagement through active learning, hands-on application, and teacher-student and student-student conversations about learning.
• Use formal and informal assessment strategies to maximize student achievement and modify instructional strategies as needed.
• Collect and use data for continual improvement.
• Submit collaborative lesson plans on time.
• Regularly update the digital gradebook and communicate with parents about student progress.
• Promote independent and collaborative work ethics.
• Participate in professional learning communities and attend professional development opportunities to meet each child’s needs.
• Use assessment tools and strategies, including observations, continuums of development, portfolios, and daily assessments, to make instructional decisions for individual students.
• Maintain accurate records as required by law and administrative regulation.
