About The Position

Ohr Torah Cincinnati (OTC) is an expanding Jewish independent school serving toddlers through eighth grade. OTC focuses on fostering a love for learning and an appreciation for discovery across all subject areas. The school provides a carefully planned, stimulating, and structured learning environment with an integrated curriculum in Judaic and General Studies. The approach builds student independence and honors the innate yearning for discovery. OTC is seeking a highly qualified teacher for its 4th-6th grade boys' program, offering teachers significant autonomy to be creative, innovative, and passionate, while being attuned to the needs of this age group. The ideal candidate will execute a student-centered, project-based, innovative program with a flexible mindset. This is a part-time position, with the teacher working Monday through Friday, 5 hours a day (10:00 AM - 3:00 PM).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field required
  • Experience working with adolescents
  • Team player with strong collaborative and communication skills
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn, with the ability to take direction well

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Education or a related field is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Craft, internalize, and implement high-quality, challenging, and engaging lesson plans using provided curriculum resources to meet the diverse needs of all learners.
  • Review student data individually and with administration to plan for re-teaching and follow-up lessons.
  • Develop individualized learning plans for students and communicate these plans to families in parent meetings and conferences.
  • Collaborate with the team to promote an environment of critical thinking and academic rigor.
  • Build a classroom culture that empowers students, affirms their identities, and creates a sense of belonging for all.
  • Implement school-wide and classroom management policies and practices.
  • Create a responsive and inclusive environment for parents and families.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with students and families based on trust and respect.
  • Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and team meetings.
  • Participate in the daily functions of the school, including morning, mid-day, and afternoon supervisory duties.
  • Embrace and incorporate feedback in the spirit of continuous improvement.
  • Meet professional obligations including timeliness and consistency in meeting deadlines.
