About The Position

The HLW Advance Work Package 4D Coordinator is responsible for supporting project planning, constructability, and execution through the use of advanced modeling technology. This role reports directly to the AWP Lead and collaborates closely with Field Engineering, Superintendents, and Completion Managers. The primary function is to simulate the construction sequence to optimize workflows and proactively identify potential issues. The project involves designing, constructing, and commissioning the world’s largest radioactive waste treatment plant for the U.S. Department of Energy at the Hanford Site. This massive undertaking aims to process 56 million gallons of radioactive and chemical waste using vitrification technology. The construction spans 65 acres and includes four major nuclear facilities: Pretreatment, Low-Activity Waste Vitrification, High-Level Waste Vitrification, and the Analytical Laboratory, along with supporting facilities. The Waste Treatment Completion Company (WTCC), a subcontractor to Bechtel National Inc. (BNI), is responsible for the construction, turnover, startup, and commissioning activities for this project. This position is based at the Construction Site, operating on a 4x10 schedule (Monday-Thursday, 6:30 am to 5:00 pm), with the potential need to work weekends.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and 2-5 years of relevant experience or in lieu of a degree, 6-9 years of relevant work experience.
  • Must be authorized to work and remain in the United States without Bechtel visa sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
  • Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site.
  • Knowledge of construction activities, as related to engineering disciplines, cost and scheduling, and contract administration.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel basic formulas and queries.
  • Knowledge of MicroStation and (or) other computer-aided design (CAD) software.
  • Ability to integrate the schedule and Building Information Model (BIM) model using 4D tools.
  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and technical database applications.
  • Understanding of building systems and construction processes and sequencing.
  • Ability to prioritize activities based on stakeholder requirements, and request assistance when needed.
  • Coordinates across functions, both peer-to-peer and vertically, to develop implement execution strategies.
  • Communicates with management and other key project stakeholders where appropriate.
  • Capable of summarizing large amounts of project data into clear and concise report outs.
  • Ability to interface with personnel of varying backgrounds and skill sets.
  • Ability to understand technical problems, identify root causes, and apply technical knowledge to identify solutions and implement practical action plans.
  • Ability to think 'outside the box' to help resolve challenges and roadblocks as they arise.
  • Understanding of Bechtel construction execution practices, including roles and responsibilities, common constraints to construction execution, earned value management, BSAPs, programs, tools, process improvement methodologies, and innovative trends within the construction industry.
  • Ability to take full ownership of actions, deliverables, and performance, and managing work through to completion.
  • Shows dedication, commitment, and ownership when executing tasks.
  • Takes responsibility for any errors or knowledge gaps, and requests assistance when needed.
  • Must be physically able to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk-downs which may require extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, using fall protection and other personal protective equipment (PPE), walking on elevated platforms, walking on uneven surfaces, and maneuvering around very small and/or confined spaces.

  • Working knowledge of developing unit rate and performance factors, as well as BSAPs and standard programs used on Bechtel EPC projects (such as SmartCompletions, Teamworks, Aconex, Digital Supply Chain, Synchro 4D, Bechtel Production System, etc.).
  • Prior experience on construction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains multi-discipline 3D and 4D BIM models using Synchro 4D.
  • Creates 4D visual schedules by linking the 3D model to the project timeline.
  • Coordinates interdisciplinary model reviews using Synchro 4D.
  • Performs quality control reviews of models.
  • May include existing conditions modeling, cost estimation, phase planning, site analysis, design construability reviews, 3D visualization, 3D coordination, site utilization planning, construction system design, digital fabrication, and 3D control planning.
  • Responsible for the integration of project systems in support of the Advanced Work Package (AWP) program.
  • Provides support for the development of automated data quality and data completeness checks.
  • Works with Construction Coordinators to set priorities and coordinate AWP planning activities in the assigned project area.
