About The Position

St. Mary School-Marion is seeking a passionate and energetic 3rd Grade Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This full-time position is at a PK-8 Catholic School in downtown Marion, serving approximately 140 students from diverse backgrounds. The school emphasizes faith, academics, and diversity, aiming to provide a high-quality Catholic education that forms disciples of Christ. The ideal candidate will create a warm classroom environment, implement lessons with clarity and creativity, and foster curiosity and growth. A strong focus is placed on engaging children in learning and collaborating within a team setting. The teacher will be responsible for instructing students in mathematics, language arts, religion, social studies, and science.

Requirements

  • Hold an appropriate Ohio Teaching License (Professional, Permanent, or Resident Educator) or be eligible to obtain one before beginning to teach.
  • Current satisfactory BCI & FBI background checks.
  • Have attended or be willing to attend a Virtus Protecting God's Children training.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Current teaching license for the PK-5 grade range.
  • Active, practicing Catholic (preferred but not required).
  • Serve as a model of Catholic faith for the students and represent the teachings of the Catholic church.
  • Comfortable using internet and educational technology, and willing to master new tools.
  • Establish and maintain a classroom environment in which students thrive mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
  • Use instruction, assessment, planning, and accommodations to effectively meet the needs of students.
  • Engage with families and contribute to school life and community.
  • Religious Education certification as required by the diocese.
