About The Position

The 3D Plant Layout Engineer – Revit/BIM Specialist develops and maintains coordinated 3D factory layouts for manufacturing environments. The role integrates manufacturing equipment, utilities, infrastructure, material-flow areas, and volumetric envelopes across multiple elevations, while maintaining alignment between 2D factory layouts and 3D models. The engineer establishes and maintains BIM standards and governance, including equipment naming, family classifications, file organization, model ownership, approval workflows, and revision control. Responsibilities include integrating and optimizing equipment CAD models in Revit, developing standardized Revit families and equipment libraries, managing federated Navisworks models and clash resolution, and maintaining model health and interoperability. The role also supports Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) and Bluebeam collaboration, prepares geometry for FlexSim simulations, migrates legacy CAD layouts into Revit, and trains and supports manufacturing engineers. Deliverables include updated factory BIM models, standardized equipment families and templates, clash reports with resolution tracking, engineering documentation and drawing revisions, model health reports, and FlexSim-compatible exports. The position is onsite in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, or Austin, Texas. Compensation is expected to range from $60,000 to $135,000, with final compensation dependent on factors such as location, skills, and relevant experience. Requirements

5–8 years of experience.
Advanced Revit and AutoCAD skills, including modeling, equipment integration, family creation, model optimization, and CAD interoperability.
Experience with Navisworks Manage for model federation, clash detection, clearance analysis, and issue tracking.
Experience with ACC and Bluebeam for cloud collaboration, document management, drawing reviews, and revision control.
Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Inventor, Bluebeam, and ACC automation and integration.
Manufacturing BIM experience, including factory layouts, equipment utility interfaces, material handling, and multidisciplinary coordination.
Knowledge of BIM governance, modeling standards, shared coordinates, data integrity, model health, and engineering workflows.
Experience building and maintaining Revit-based 3D plant models and coordinating models with Navisworks.
Ability to model manufacturing equipment, develop 3D models from 2D layouts, and maintain consistency between 2D and 3D layouts.
Ability to coordinate with equipment vendors to obtain and validate model data and specifications.
Ability to collaborate with industrial engineering, manufacturing, construction, and facilities teams.
Ability to manage model revisions and maintain release and approval history.

Responsibilities

Establish and maintain BIM standards for equipment naming, family classifications, file organization, model ownership, approval workflows, and revision control.
Integrate manufacturing equipment CAD models into Revit, simplifying complex assemblies while preserving critical geometry, maintenance clearances, and coordination requirements.
Develop standardized Revit families, equipment libraries, templates, and custom views.
Maintain coordinated 3D factory layouts covering equipment, pallets, material-flow aisles, utility connections, and volumetric envelopes across multiple elevations.
Develop and maintain federated Navisworks models; perform clash detection across manufacturing and facility systems; and track tagged conflicts, viewpoints, and resolutions.
Maintain equipment parameters and model health, manage CAD/Revit import-export workflows, and prepare compatible geometry for FlexSim simulations.
Manage Autodesk Construction Cloud projects, model publishing, permissions, and version control; use Bluebeam for drawing reviews, markups, and engineering-change coordination.
Maintain standardized factory base models and migrate legacy CAD layouts into Revit.
Train manufacturing engineers and troubleshoot modeling, coordinate alignment, and software integration issues.
Deliver updated and coordinated factory BIM models integrating equipment, utilities, infrastructure, and material flow.
Create standardized equipment families, BIM templates, and custom views; produce clash reports with tagged clashes, owners, and resolution tracking.
Prepare engineering documentation, ACC-published models, Bluebeam markups, drawing revisions, archived layouts, validated equipment data, model health reports, and FlexSim-compatible exports.
Build and maintain Revit plant models and use Navisworks to combine and coordinate 3D models and identify layout conflicts.
Create accurate 3D models of manufacturing equipment and integrate them into plant layouts; develop 3D models from 2D factory layouts and keep both synchronized.
Coordinate with equipment vendors to obtain and validate model data and specifications.
Collaborate with industrial engineering, manufacturing, construction, and facilities teams to align models with plant requirements.
Manage model revisions and maintain clear release and approval history.
