3D Manufacturing Engineer

BroadridgeEdgewood, NY
Onsite

About The Position

The 3D Manufacturing Engineer supports and executes daily additive manufacturing operations for in-house production of replacement machine components and prototypes. This role manages end-to-end printing activities, including print preparation, machine operation, post-processing, inventory coordination, quality validation, and documentation. The position plays a key role in scaling additive manufacturing capabilities and supporting the development of a centralized 3D parts library across sites. This role requires a hands-on professional with strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot equipment and processes within a manufacturing environment. An engineering degree is required.

Requirements

  • Engineering degree required.
  • Experience with additive manufacturing or 3D printing technologies, including resin- and filament-based systems.
  • Experience using Formlabs and/or Bambu systems, and familiarity with CAD models, STL files, or basic print preparation software.
  • Experience with quality inspection tools and measurement equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Mechanical aptitude and hands-on technical experience in a manufacturing, maintenance, or technical operations environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment and process issues and work independently within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and time management skills, with the ability to maintain accurate technical and production records.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor resin- and filament-based 3D printing equipment, including Formlabs Form 4 / Form 4L systems, Bambu Lab printers, and wash and cure equipment.
  • Prepare, stage, and set up print jobs based on production priorities and demand requirements, including material loading, support generation, orientation review, and build preparation.
  • Manage printer queues, optimize machine utilization and throughput, monitor active print jobs, and respond to print failures or equipment issues.
  • Perform post-processing activities, including washing, curing, support removal, surface finishing, and basic assembly.
  • Assemble multi-component parts using adhesives, inserts, or mixed-material applications, and support hybrid builds that combine existing metal shafts or reusable components with printed wear items.
  • Inspect printed parts for dimensional accuracy, fit, and quality standards; support fit testing and validation activities with team members; document print outcomes, performance observations, and issues identified during testing; and assist in tracking part performance and lifecycle data.
  • Maintain records related to print settings, material usage, print times, failure rates, and production output; assist in developing and maintaining the master 3D parts library; capture photos; maintain documentation for successful print configurations and work instructions; and support standardization efforts for future multi-site adoption.
  • Maintain printer equipment and perform routine cleaning and preventive maintenance; monitor inventory levels of resin, filament, consumables, and spare components; coordinate material replenishment needs; identify opportunities to improve print efficiency, quality, and throughput; assist in evaluating new materials and printing technologies; and support process improvement initiatives related to additive manufacturing operations.
