About The Position

The 2nd Shift at Madison Park program provides an opportunity for students throughout the district to access career and technical education instruction out of school hours. This program revives efforts to extend vocational opportunities beyond the Madison Park student population and leverage the resources at Madison Park, which include industry-aligned workspaces with modern facilities and equipment. In this program, students participate in 100 hours of instruction that include safety training, introduction to six building trades, and site visits to various unions. The school liaison will run the selection process, onboarding, and ongoing support for students enrolled in The 2nd Shift at Madison Park. This will include vetting applications, conducting interviews, running student orientation, and monitoring student attendance and engagement. The liaison will also be the connection between the 2nd Shift at Madison Program and the sending school.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree
  • Five years of full-time employment experience in an urban education setting either as a teacher or in a student support role.
  • Proven track record of successfully supporting students to meet programmatic expectations.
  • Current authorization to work in the United States.
  • 50 total hours of work.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in CTE and/or Skilled Trades
  • DESE License in teaching, school counseling and/or social work
  • Fluency in Spanish, Creole (Cape Verdean), Creole (Haitian), Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, & Somali.

Responsibilities

  • Run the selection process for students.
  • Manage onboarding for students.
  • Provide ongoing support for students enrolled in the program.
  • Vet applications and conduct interviews.
  • Run student orientation sessions.
  • Monitor student attendance and engagement.
  • Act as the connection between the 2nd Shift at Madison Program and the sending school.
  • Submit a syllabus that includes a diagnostic and post-test, demonstrating evidence of competency on the benchmarks.
  • Monitor student progress and submit a grade report.
  • Keep accurate and complete records of attendance, all assignments, and artifacts.
  • Follow up with the Site Director on student attendance and engagement.
  • Evaluate student skills and readiness for Industry Recognized Credential assessment.
  • Communicate effectively with students regarding their progress.
  • Communicate and collaborate with the Apprentice Navigators about student progress and engagement.

Benefits

  • Stipend Amount: $3000
  • BTU rate, $59.39/ hour
