About The Position

Gunderson Dettmer’s 2L ECVC Diversity Fellowship provides selected fellows with a paid 2L Summer Associate position in one of the firm’s U.S. offices and a scholarship of up to $75,000. Fellows participate in trainings, including mock transactional exercises, work with attorneys in the Corporate, Fund Formation, and Strategic Transactions & Licensing practices, and attend social events. Each fellow is assigned a mentor for the Fellowship experience. Summer Associates are compensated $4,327 per week for the duration of the Summer Program.

Applicants are evaluated holistically based on demonstrated interest in emerging companies and venture capital, commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, the quality of their personal statements, and personal, professional, leadership, community, and/or academic achievements. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Initial interviews are virtual; in-person callbacks may be accommodated depending on location. Applicants are automatically considered for the firm’s 2028 Summer Program and do not need to submit a separate Summer Associate application.

Requirements

• Be an interested 2L applicant.
• Demonstrate interest in emerging companies and venture capital.
• Demonstrate commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
• Submit a current resume.
• Submit an undergraduate transcript; an unofficial copy is acceptable.
• Submit graduate transcripts, if applicable; unofficial copies are acceptable.
• Submit a law school transcript when available; an unofficial copy is acceptable.
• Submit two personal statements addressing the specified prompts and relevant personal, professional, academic, diversity, equity and inclusion, community service, leadership, and other notable experiences.

Responsibilities

• Participate in trainings, including mock transactional exercises.
• Work with attorneys in the Corporate, Fund Formation, and Strategic Transactions & Licensing practices.
• Attend social events to get to know colleagues outside the office.
• Participate in the Fellowship experience with an assigned mentor.
