2027 Summer 2L Associate Program
About The Position
Masuda Funai is accepting applications for qualified second-year law students for its Chicago 2027 Summer Associate Program. This is a full-time, paid, eight-week position designed to provide participants with a realistic view of a full-time associate's daily responsibilities. Summer associates will engage in diverse and challenging assignments across various practice groups, including litigation, employment, corporate transactions, real estate, commercial transactions, intellectual property, and immigration. The program emphasizes mentorship, with assigned mentors providing regular guidance, feedback on work product, and support to enhance substantive knowledge, legal writing, and presentation skills. Attorneys will also provide direct feedback on assignments. The summer experience includes social networking opportunities such as casual lunches, get-togethers with attorneys, client meetings, and group outings in the city.
Requirements
- Second year law student
- Genuinely interested in permanently locating and working in Chicago

Responsibilities
- Work on a variety of real and challenging assignments from all practice groups including litigation, employment, corporate transactions, real estate, commercial transactions, intellectual property, and immigration.
- Receive mentorship and guidance from an assigned mentor regarding firm information, work product evaluation, and general support.
- Receive direct feedback on assignments from attorneys.
- Participate in casual lunches, get-togethers with attorneys, client meetings, and group outings.
