The position requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering or technical field and at least seven years of experience in factory layout planning, site planning, industrial engineering, or manufacturing systems design. The role also calls for experience in large-scale manufacturing, proficiency with layout software, and knowledge of facility planning, material handling, industrial engineering methods, and relevant safety and regulatory requirements. Salary range: $95,000–$140,000; the actual offer depends on factors including location and job-related qualifications and experience. Selected candidates must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • At least 7 years of experience in factory layout planning, site planning, industrial engineering, or manufacturing systems design.
  • Experience supporting large-scale manufacturing environments such as automotive, battery, energy, semiconductor, or heavy industrial operations.
  • Strong knowledge of factory layout design, site planning, facility infrastructure, and material-flow optimization.
  • Demonstrated experience with site master planning, building placement, yard design, dock strategies, and logistics infrastructure planning.
  • Hands-on experience with PFEP (Plan for Every Part), warehouse design, inventory storage strategies, and material handling systems.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar layout and facility design software.
  • Experience using simulation and modeling tools such as FlexSim or equivalent platforms.
  • Strong understanding of industrial engineering methodologies, including OEE, line balancing, takt time, cycle time analysis, labor planning, and capacity modeling.
  • Experience collaborating with construction, facilities, and engineering teams during site development and infrastructure implementation.
  • Knowledge of safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements related to facility and site design.
  • Strong analytical, project management, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills.
  • Ability to translate operational and engineering data into actionable recommendations for stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening is required as a condition of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Lead factory and site layout design across manufacturing lines, warehouses, storage areas, material-flow and people-flow systems, and support spaces.
  • Develop long-term site master plans for capacity expansion, operational scalability, and future manufacturing growth.
  • Create and maintain detailed 2D and conceptual 3D layouts aligned with business requirements, production plans, and facility constraints.
  • Design and optimize end-to-end material flow, including inbound logistics, work-in-process, warehouse operations, and outbound finished goods movement.
  • Manage site planning activities, including building placement, transportation routes, dock operations, yard design, utility infrastructure, and logistics interfaces.
  • Establish and maintain layout governance standards, drafting procedures, change management processes, and visual factory standards.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Operations, Supply Chain, Facilities, Construction, and EHS teams to support project execution and alignment.
  • Analyze space utilization, workflow efficiency, labor productivity, throughput, and operational costs using data-driven methods.
  • Develop and integrate PFEP strategies into facility layouts, storage systems, packaging methods, and line-side delivery processes.
  • Define and track layout performance metrics, including flow distances, aisle utilization, space density, throughput, and bottlenecks.
  • Support capacity planning through OEE analysis, cycle time studies, line balancing, and throughput modeling.
  • Drive factory densification and continuous improvement by reducing non-value-added movement and improving operational efficiency.
  • Support installation, commissioning, layout validation, and production ramp-up for new and existing facilities.
  • Present layout strategies, analytical findings, and business recommendations to technical teams and executive stakeholders.
