About The Position

Elsewhere is hiring a 2D Art Generalist (CONTRACT) to create stunning art for projects in our game universe. We’re a venture-backed indie studio working on a surreal roguelike set inside your own dreaming mind. We aim for the project to combine the soul of a stellar indie title with the strategic depth and replayability of roguelikes, ultimately becoming a forever-game that reaches millions of players. This role will contribute to concept art (including drawing and illustration) for a new project. You’ll work with our team to carefully create beautiful and memorable pieces of character art as well as contribute to the game at large. This is a contract position. Work will vary from week to week depending on our team’s needs. If things go well, more work may be available in the future.

Requirements

Love games and the culture surrounding them deeply.
Have played more games than you can count across genres.
Have made a game (side project, indie, or AAA) and can point to specific art you owned from concept to completion in your portfolio.
Have a strong personal aesthetic and a comprehensive portfolio of art.
Experienced with tools like Photoshop, Procreate, and Illustrator.
Worked within game engines like Godot, Unity, or Unreal.
Enthusiastic or at least open-minded about the ways the latest generative AI technologies can augment (but not replace) creative talent, and ideally have opinions about which tools are the most helpful.
Ambitious.
Collaborative.
Excited to work closely with our whole team to create a unified vision.
