About The Position

Martinsburg-Berkeley County Parks & Recreation is seeking a skilled, passionate community member to lead a 4-week Art enrichment module for local homeschool students, ages 6–14, with support from MBCPR staff. Classes should be hands-on and accessible, introducing students to visual art techniques such as drawing, painting, mixed media, or pottery, while building skills and confidence.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years of age minimum
• Plan and teach a 4-week class series in visual art or a related craft discipline
• Comfortable teaching foundational art techniques to mixed-age, mixed-skill-level students
• Provide simple, achievable learning goals appropriate for ages 6–14
• Maintain a positive, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment
• Communicate material needs (supplies, equipment, space set-up) to the Educational Program Coordinator
• Follow all MBCPR policies and safety procedures
• A clear communicator who shares information with the supervisor, team members, and parents to support smooth program operation.
• Must handle differences of opinion professionally, follow instructions conscientiously, and function well as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver a structured 4-week art curriculum with clear, age-appropriate learning goals
• Prepares and organizes art supplies, materials, and project setups for each session
• Guides students through techniques and projects while encouraging individual creativity
• Maintains a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment for mixed-age groups
• Communicates with the Educational Program Coordinator regarding attendance, supply needs, and student concerns
• Serves as a point of contact for parents regarding class content and student progress
• Adheres to MBCPR safety procedures and reports incidents promptly
