2027 Spring Co-op RNA Production

Sanofi•Waltham, MA
•$35 - $47•Onsite

About The Position

Sanofi is seeking a highly motivated Spring Co-op to join its RNA Production team. The co-op will support mRNA production for drug targets, including batch production, characterization, and process optimization. The position focuses on synthesizing and purifying a wide range of mRNA constructs in parallel, performing analytical characterization for the mRNA drug-substance release panel, and contributing to improvements in mRNA sequence design, production, and purification. The co-op will also help evaluate and implement new technologies, optimize existing workflows, and prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for management and other stakeholders. This is primarily a lab-based position in Waltham, Massachusetts, for six months.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a master's degree in life sciences, molecular biology, biochemistry, biomedical engineering, or biotechnology, with planned graduation by Spring 2027 or 2028.

  • Remain enrolled in an accredited college or university throughout the co-op/internship.
  • Be able to relocate to the office location and work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, for the full co-op duration.

Nice To Haves

  • Desire to work in a team-first, fast-paced environment, learn new skills, and solve problems efficiently.
  • Experience in nucleic acid synthesis, RNase-free handling, or application, with hands-on experience in mRNA production or characterization.
  • Hands-on experience in capillary and gel electrophoresis.
  • Hands-on experience in analytical and molecular biology methods relevant to mRNA.
  • Attention to detail and meticulous record keeping.
  • Effective time management and the ability to manage multiple projects at once.

Responsibilities

  • Support batch production, characterization, and optimization of mRNA processes for mRNA drug targets.
  • Synthesize and purify a range of mRNA constructs in parallel to support program progression.
  • Accurately and reproducibly execute analytical characterization for the full release panel for mRNA drug substance.
  • Contribute to optimization of mRNA sequence design, production, and purification.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies and optimize existing workflows for platform projects.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for management and other stakeholders.

Benefits

  • Mentoring and guidance from inspiring leaders and collaborative teams.
  • Opportunities to develop skills through apprenticeships, internships, graduate programs, and international experiences.
