About The Position

The 1/C Fleet Mechanic performs diversified, unusual, and difficult repair and maintenance work on automotive equipment, using considerable judgment and skill. The role includes operating vehicles in traffic and periodically inspecting engines, brakes, suspension, electrical systems, and other mechanical components. The mechanic diagnoses and repairs vehicle issues, rebuilds worn or broken equipment parts, and assists others with diagnosis and repair. Work is performed using standard methods consistent with recognized shop practice, and the mechanic creates and maintains work notifications and orders to administer the maintenance and repair program.

Requirements

Extensive knowledge of heavy-duty and automotive mechanics, including internal combustion engines, electrical and hydraulic systems, and other components.
Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams, instruction manuals, repair manuals, and parts lists.
Proficiency using scales, micrometers, feeler gauges, heavy- and light-duty scan tools, and automotive testing equipment.
A degree in automotive or heavy-duty truck repair, or equivalent experience.
At least 5 years of experience repairing heavy- and light-duty vehicles and equipment, including air brakes, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, computer systems, suspension, and drivetrain systems.

Nice To Haves

EPA 609 certificate (Automotive Air Conditioning).
