1:1 Aide
About The Position
Specialized Education Services, Inc. (SESI), a division of FullBloom, provides education services for K–12 students who need additional support in traditional school settings. SESI partners with school districts to operate in-district classrooms and standalone schools serving students with special and alternative education needs. As a 1:1 Aide, you support an assigned student according to their individualized education plan (IEP), provide customized behavior support, and teach life skills. You are part of a multidisciplinary team delivering holistic guidance and support in diverse educational settings.
Requirements
- High school diploma.
- Ability to run short distances and move swiftly, including bending, kneeling, and crouching.
- Ability to lift and assist students with mobility challenges, often handling up to 50 pounds or more.
- Ability to perform fine motor tasks, such as assisting with writing, manipulating small objects, or using adaptive devices.
- Ability to operate a computer or tablet for up to 8 hours daily.
- Ability to notice and respond to students’ non-verbal cues.
- Ability to remain calm and composed during physically and emotionally demanding situations.
Nice To Haves
- Experience working in an educational setting implementing behavioral interventions for students with intensive behavioral needs.
Responsibilities
- Work with students from varied developmental, cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Provide one-on-one support to an assigned student to meet IEP goals, including accommodations and modifications as needed.
- Assist in developing and modifying behavior support plans.
- Implement behavior support plans and record and track behavioral data, progress toward goals, and incidents.
- Use behavior support and intervention strategies.
- Use de-escalation techniques, crisis management, and physical restraint when necessary to maintain student and staff safety.
- Foster a positive, inclusive environment that supports appropriate social and behavioral skills.
- Supervise and continuously monitor students, including while moving to and from school locations.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure consistent implementation of behavior support plans.
- Provide personal care support according to the student’s needs.
- Communicate effectively with parents.
