The primary purpose of this position is to ensure the Company remains in compliance with tax filings and legislation and to provide support and assistance to the accounting team with respect to tax related journal entries. This role involves supporting the preparation of various tax returns (federal, state, local, and special in both Canada and the U.S.), preparing quarterly tax provision working papers and journal entries, and managing franchise and sales tax preparations and filings. The Tax Manager will also assist in responding to communications from tax authorities, manage the implementation of tax planning initiatives, and support SOX processes and documentation to reduce control risk in the area of taxes. Furthermore, the position ensures compliance with federal, state, and local requirements by studying regulations, enforcing adherence, advising management on necessary actions, and communicating with legal and tax specialists.
