The project aims at developing advanced conductor transmission cables to replace/upgrade these out of dated overhead transmission lines and to modernize the nation’s electrical transmission & distribution grid. Advanced conductors play a critical role in cost-saving and energy-reduction in electricity transmission and distribution. Students participating in the project will be working on materials characterizations techniques and computer modeling/simulation to understand materials processing conditions – structure – property relationships. This applied project will provide internship students with a very good opportunity to gain hands on experience and engage their further interest in scientific research. Education and Experience Requirements The entirety of the appointment must be conducted within the United States. Must be 18 years or older at the time the appointment begins. Applicants must be: ‒ Currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate studies at an accredited institution ‒ Graduated from an accredited institution within the past 3 months; or ‒ Actively enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited institution
