About The Position

The Group Exercise Instructor will lead members, in a group environment, through a prearranged format of exercises designed to enhance overall fitness, strength and endurance, while ensuring that the safety of the members is not compromised. The Group Exercise Instructor will also serve as a resource to educate members on various aspects of fitness. This role requires a positive and professional attitude, dependability, and the ability to create a motivational and fun environment for all participants. The instructor will promote Gold's Gym and GGX.

Requirements

At least six months teaching in a group exercise format.
Knowledge of safe exercise technique and group exercise principles.
Knowledge of basic physiology and body mechanics.
Performance of a variety of exercise routines.
Positive and effective interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to operate and troubleshoot audio equipment.
Group fitness certification by ACE, AFAA, ACSM, or specialized certifications such as and limited to Zumba, Strong, Les Mills, Silver Sneakers etc.
Appropriate fitness attire that allows for proper form observation and is not revealing.
Proper footwear.

Nice To Haves

Instructors having a specialized skill such as Yoga, Pilates, Body Pump, Body Attack, etc. must provide verifiable proof of education.
Wear Gold’s Gym branded attire when possible.

Responsibilities

Lead members in a group exercise format designed to enhance fitness, strength, and endurance.
Educate members on various aspects of fitness.
Arrive 10-15 minutes early to interact with members, answer questions, and orient new participants.
Monitor participants to ensure correct form and offer variations for different fitness levels.
Create a motivational and fun environment.
Remove music and return equipment after class.
Ensure the room is in order for the next class.
Answer participant questions and solicit feedback.
Prepare appropriate music and ensure audio equipment is functioning.
Ensure classes begin and end promptly, making adjustments to the flow as needed.
Follow closing procedures if teaching the last class of the day.
Find a qualified substitute if unable to teach a scheduled class and notify the Group Exercise Director.
Be dependable and consistent in class schedules.
Attend required staff meetings.
Follow proper time recording procedures.
Prepare incident and/or witness reports as necessary.
Maintain a positive and professional attitude.
Promote Gold's Gym and GGX.
