Part-time Zamboni Driver
About The Position
Under routine supervision, the Zamboni Driver performs essential duties related to the operation and maintenance of ice rinks and facilities at Niagara University. This role involves operating specialized equipment to resurface ice, maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the facility, and performing minor repairs. The position requires the ability to work in a cool environment, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays, and to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Niagara University is a liberal arts institution located near Niagara Falls, offering a scenic campus and proximity to cultural and business centers.
Requirements
- Ability to read and comprehend the English language sufficiently to be able to read and understand various forms, documentation, files and information in the department.
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division to be able to perform the duties of this position.
- Good understanding of all rink operations; includes resurfacing of ice rinks and minor equipment maintenance.
- Ability to work in a cool environment for long periods of time.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends and some Holidays.
- Must have a valid New York State driver's license.
- Ability to perform movements such as stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting, walking, carrying without significant risk of injury.
- Extensive wrist and hand movements for computer keyboard and software applications, and calculator use.
Nice To Haves
- Associate degree in a related field is preferred.
- One year experience performing similar tasks in a recreational facility is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Operate Zamboni to resurface ice rinks on a routine basis as needed
- Operate edger machine on a routine basis
- Clean facility to maintain neat appearance
- Perform minor repairs to the facility and equipment
- Work evenings, weekends and some Holidays
- Maintain confidentiality of information
- Perform other duties as assigned
