The Y Social Impact Center (YSIC) supports low-income youth and young adults who may have experience in foster care, homelessness, disconnection from school, juvenile justice, and/or other systems in developing the skills to live independently. This role provides specialized support in areas such as education, job readiness/employment, and housing. The YSIC aims to strengthen young people's ability to develop to their fullest potential by reducing risk factors, navigating systems towards successful life transitions, establishing stability, safety, and wellness in times of crisis, and building competencies and social capital. Arcadia Services, a part of YGS, offers person-centered support through its Drop-In Center and Emergency Shelter Programs, serving individuals experiencing homelessness or housing instability. The Drop-In Center acts as a resource hub for meals, hygiene, clothing, housing navigation, employment support, benefits assistance, and community service connections. The Shelter Program provides safe overnight accommodations and supportive services, with staff collaborating on individualized plans for housing placement, income stability, healthcare access, recovery support, and personal goals. Case Managers are vital in building trust, conducting assessments, coordinating services, advocating for participants, and helping them navigate complex systems of care to achieve permanent housing, increased independence, and improved quality of life. The YGS serves approximately 5,000 youth, young adults, and families annually across King County, Pierce County, and other counties in Washington. The organization values relatable lived experience as an asset due to the systems many young people have navigated. The YMCA's mission is to build a community where all people, especially the young, are encouraged to develop their fullest potential in spirit, mind, and body.
