About The Position

The Calgary Bridge Foundation for Youth (CBFY) is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to supporting immigrant and refugee children, youth, and families as they build successful lives in Canada. Through innovative programs and services, we empower newcomers to overcome barriers, achieve their goals, and thrive in their communities. At CBFY, we believe in creating opportunities, fostering belonging, and supporting the social, emotional, educational, and cultural integration of newcomer youth. CBFY is seeking a dynamic and compassionate Youth Worker to join our Bridges to Justice program. In this role, you will support newcomer children and youth through recreational, educational, and community-based activities that promote integration, belonging, and personal growth. Reporting to the Project Coordinator, you will collaborate with SWIS Workers, schools, families, and community partners to deliver high-quality programming and support services.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Education, International Relations, or a related field.
  • 2-3 years of experience working with youth, newcomers, immigrants, refugees, or diverse communities.
  • Experience planning and facilitating youth-focused programs and activities.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Demonstrated strengths-based and client-centered approach.
  • Cultural competency and experience working with diverse populations.
  • Knowledge of settlement services and newcomer integration challenges.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications and client management systems.
  • Access to reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends when required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with data collection, reporting, and program evaluation is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Build positive relationships with newcomer children, youth, and families.
  • Promote CBFY programs and services within schools and community settings.
  • Support settlement and integration needs using a strengths-based and culturally responsive approach.
  • Assist youth with accessing community resources, services, and supports.
  • Contribute to youth settlement plans and connect clients with appropriate referrals.
  • Facilitate communication between youth, families, schools, and community partners.
  • Design and facilitate educational, cultural, recreational, and life-skills activities.
  • Organize group sessions, workshops, and community engagement opportunities.
  • Support summer camp planning and delivery.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop innovative programming that meets client needs.
  • Guide participants through surveys and evaluations to measure program impact.
  • Work closely with school staff and community organizations to support newcomer youth.
  • Represent CBFY at meetings, events, and community engagements.
  • Promote awareness of newcomer experiences, challenges, and contributions.
  • Maintain accurate client records and program documentation.
  • Enter client information and service data into the client management system.
  • Contribute to monthly reports, narrative reports, and program evaluations.
  • Submit mileage, expense claims, and other required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Attend professional development and training opportunities.
  • Engage in coaching, feedback, and continuous learning.
  • Participate in team meetings, committees, and agency-wide initiatives.
  • Follow all workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Report hazards, incidents, and concerns promptly.
  • Contribute to a safe, respectful, and inclusive workplace.
