About The Position

The American Red Cross is seeking a Youth Volunteer Engagement Specialist to manage recruitment and engagement activities within the region. This role is crucial for attracting and retaining volunteers who support the organization's mission-critical activities. The specialist will develop and implement recruitment strategies, support program implementation to enhance volunteer engagement, and perform screenings, referrals, and placements of prospective volunteers. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience.
  • Ability to work on a team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Good organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple and continuously evolving priorities effectively.
  • Intermediate proficiency with MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to travel around two state-region.
  • Combination of candidate’s education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description’s minimum education and general experience years combined.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of group dynamics, customer maintenance techniques, negotiation skills, and the ability to effectively implement programs is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Youth/Young Adult volunteer programs preferred.
  • Volunteer Management: Experience recruiting, coordinating, training, and supporting volunteers while fostering engagement, accountability, and a positive, mission-driven experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement broad-based recruitment strategies to attract and identify Red Cross volunteers to effectively support Regional goals and mission critical activities.
  • Support the implementation and execution of programs, projects and initiatives to increase and strengthen the engagement of volunteers.
  • Perform screenings, referrals, and placement of prospective volunteers to effectively support Regional goals and mission critical activities.
  • Contribute input and serve as a resource for Youth/Young Adult volunteer recruitment and engagement best practices.
  • Empower youth volunteerism and leadership by building connections between youth and the Red Cross mission.
  • Implement, execute and monitor Youth/Young adult volunteer engagement and retention strategies to include interaction with the volunteer community both personally and through the volunteer infrastructure.
  • Participate in the recruitment, onboarding, and support of regional Red Cross Clubs.
  • Meet with stakeholders and ensure alignment of established goals to volunteer needs.
  • Develop and supervise volunteer teams to support Youth/Young Adult and Red Cross Club engagement.
  • Facilitate formal and informal Youth/Young Adult recognition efforts and events to promote community and honor the volunteer experience and contributions.
  • Other responsibilities as needed.
