Part-Time Youth Vocal Instructor - Studio Position
About The Position
UpBeat Music & Arts is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2013 to help youth reach their fullest potential through music and the arts. They believe economics should not be a barrier to music education and provide scholarships to underserved youth. Their teachers are passionate musicians who relate to young people and their unique needs, fostering social and emotional growth alongside music fundamentals. UpBeat currently employs 19 instructors and is looking to expand their team. The new instructor will focus on voice instruction for children ages 8 to young adults, with the possibility of teaching piano or other instruments. All lessons are in-person at the UpBeat studio.
Requirements
- formal music education, training, etc. (we are unable to consider self-taught musicians)
- proficiency in voice performance
- ability to proficiently accompany on piano
- strong understanding of music theory
- a passion for working with youth
Nice To Haves
- previous experience in music education, summer camps, or similar settings
Responsibilities
- teach 30-minute individual voice lessons
- proficiently accompany students on piano
- teach in group settings when needed
- teach theory, technique, performance, and composition
- utilize exercises and games to motivate students
- conduct ongoing assessments of achievements through formal and informal testing
- help to coordinate and support program activities
- contribute towards organizing activities, curriculum design, and student / parent feedback
