About The Position

The Youth Support Worker will assist children and youth in developing life skills, social skills, and accessing community resources. This role involves providing individual care and guidance. The candidate will collaborate with Prevention & Recovery and Cultural staff within the communities, working with youth, community members, and healthcare professionals.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 education or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
  • Experience in facilitating groups, public speaking, presentations, and writing reports.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Screening.
  • Possession of a valid Class 5 Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Increasing awareness and understanding of issues among First Nations youth.
  • Contributing in thoughtful and innovative ways to the development and implementation of awareness and prevention strategies.
  • Assisting in organizing a committee in each community and engaging youth to discuss relevant issues and concerns.
  • Participating in the development of youth planning in each community.
  • Assisting the Prevention & Recovery and Cultural team/program in facilitating grief workshops.
  • Inspiring youth to live a healthy lifestyle.
  • Attending meetings, case conferences, and trainings as required.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor or designate.
