About The Position

This opportunity is with our Good Shepherd – Notre Dame House. We inspire youth to dream, hope and achieve. We strengthen community by believing that no youth stands alone. Each year, Good Shepherd Youth Services helps thousands of youth through strength-based programs including personal counseling, life skills training and educational programs. Youth Services provides support to 15 co-ed homeless youth ages 16-21 as well as a 21-bed youth shelter, including youth who have ongoing contact or involvement with AS/CCAS/Probation/Youth Justice System/ AY/ADGS and other family counseling agencies. Staff members support clients to reach personal goals and to have a satisfying and meaningful life in the community. In this role, you will work to make a difference in the lives of Clients living at Youth Services. Services to clients include assessment, planning, crisis prevention and intervention, supportive counselling, education, advocacy, social/recreational programming, life skills teaching ie: cooking and linkages with other community services. In this role you will be participating in Good Shepherd's Health and Safety programs, procedures, procedures and work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations to minimize risk to clients, staff and others as well as to the property of the Good Shepherd.

Requirements

  • Primary case management and community development skills acquired through a post-secondary education in social services such as Child and Youth Worker
  • A commitment to the mission values of hospitality, availability, quality, adaptability, responsibility and dignity
  • Must have some experience working with Youth
  • CPR certification or willingness to be certified
  • Committed to anti-racist/anti-oppressive practice and to the mission and values of Good Shepherd

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of and experience working in residential treatment for Children under the Ministry Guidelines are a plus
  • Ability to speak French and/or other languages considered an asset
  • Fluency in a language in addition to English is an asset
