About The Position

Bayfield Treatment Centre is a private agency that provides support to children, youth, and young adults in a Family Based Care Home setting. This part-time role provides for the daily care and supervision of Bayfield's children, youth, and young adults through the use of various relationship-building, mentoring, teaching, conflict resolution, and crisis management skills.

Requirements

  • A College diploma in the Social Service Worker, Developmental Service Worker or Child and Youth Worker, or other related field of study is required
  • A valid Broad Record Criminal Check Screening
  • Current Immunization Record and TB test
  • Must have valid Standard First Aid, CPR Level C
  • A valid G-driver's license with a clean driving record and a safe/reliable vehicle with a minimum of $2 million liability insurance and willingness to transport clients in their vehicles – mileage is reimbursed for approve drives.
  • Clear Child Welfare Background Check.
  • A genuine fondness and interest in supporting children, youth and young adults to reach their potential.
  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to supporting individuals from diverse cultures, experiences and backgrounds.
  • Basic computer/technology skills for administrative data entry.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and mentoring in a nurturing and supportive environment for children and young people with various special needs such as FASD, DS, PTSD, ADHD, ASD and self-harm.
  • Assist children, youth and young adults to reach their full potential in all aspects of their life.
  • Create and implement programs to increase opportunities for success in all areas of their life.
  • Work independently with the individuals while collaborating with the entire support team to implement individualized support plans.
  • Participate in developing and implementing programs to enhance social and life skills.
  • Provide personal hygiene support.
  • Organize recreational activities and plan community outings while using consistent and positive behaviour management strategies.
  • Ensuring safety and security for the individuals on shifts.
  • Assisting with house tasks such as cleaning and maintenance of the home.
  • Administration of medication and administrative duties as needed.
  • Providing support for transporting individuals to visitations as needed.
