We are seeking a passionate and experienced K.E.Y. Worker to join our Outreach team in North Vancouver. The Knowledge and Education for Youth (K.E.Y.) Program is a partnership between Hollyburn Family Services, the North Vancouver School District, and Parkgate Community Services. This unique school-based program supports youth who require individualized educational, behavioural, and social-emotional support to achieve success in school and the community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus three years of youth care experience; or Diploma in a related field plus five years of directly related youth care experience
  • Experience supporting youth with behavioural, emotional, social, and educational challenges
  • Experience with counselling, advocacy, mediation, strategy development, and life skills programming
  • Strong understanding of child and youth care approaches and best practices
  • Knowledge of service planning, behaviour support planning, and relevant legislation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work effectively with schools, families, government agencies, and community partners
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and documentation skills
  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Criminal Record Clearance (Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Children and Family Development to be completed during onboarding)
  • First Aid & CPR Certification
  • CPI Certification
  • Must have access to a vehicle, hold a valid B.C. Class 5 driver’s license, and have business insurance with $3,000,000.00 liability

Responsibilities

  • Develop and monitor individualized care plans and behaviour support plans
  • Provide direct support to youth both within the classroom and in community-based settings
  • Support youth in developing life skills, social skills, self-regulation, and independence
  • Provide family support and maintain regular communication with parents and caregivers
  • Meet regularly with youth and families to review progress, attendance, behaviour, and goals
  • Advocate for youth and families and connect them with appropriate community resources
  • Coordinate referrals, intakes, placements, and discharges
  • Ensure confidentiality and effective case management practices
  • Liaise with MCFD Social Workers, School District Counsellors, teachers, and community partners
  • Support implementation of service plans and educational objectives
  • Contribute to program development and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Assist with program planning, outcome measurement, and annual reporting
  • Plan and participate in daily educational, recreational, and community-based activities
  • Research and coordinate new opportunities, experiences, and resources for program participants
  • Facilitate life skills programming including meal planning, budgeting, grocery shopping, and food preparation
  • Accompany youth on community outings, recreational activities, and educational experiences
  • Participate in community development activities to strengthen service access and support networks
  • Maintain accurate client records and documentation
  • Monitor and support effective use of program resources
  • Provide regular updates to the Senior Program Manager
  • Participate in team meetings and collaborative planning sessions
