About The Position

Ensemble Schools is seeking a fun, experienced, and professional Youth String Orchestra Conductor to direct, part-time, at The Music Shop, in Boonton, New Jersey. The hired individual will be responsible for directing two programs: junior strings and intermediate strings. This role requires teaching in person for the September through May program, involving two 90-minute sessions per week for a total of 34 weeks. The conductor will select appropriate music, and is expected to educate, unite, and nurture a musical community, promoting healthy camaraderie and motivating students. Consistency is valued, and candidates with greater availability will be preferred. The position is part-time with an hourly pay range of $50-55.

Requirements

Available for the September through May program.
Proficiency in a string instrument such as violin, viola, cello, or double bass.
Teach two 90-minute sessions per week, totaling 34 weeks.
Select music that is appropriate for the students.
Educate, unite, and nurture a musical community and promote healthy camaraderie between the students.
Motivate and inspire our musical community and students.
Strong music background evidenced by a degree in music performance, pedagogy, or equivalent performing experience.
Demonstrated love of teaching.
Experience working with young musicians.
Robust appreciation for punctuality.
Reliable transportation.
Ability to pass a routine background check.
