About The Position

The Youth Sports & Fitness Camp is a general sports camp that focuses on teaching campers the basic skills of a variety of sports daily and throughout the week. The camp emphasizes teamwork, sportsmanship, sharing, taking turns, and the overall concepts of each sport. Additionally, there is a fitness component that focuses on taking care of one’s body through various group fitness classes, incorporating good nutrition and proper stretching techniques. These classes may include spinning, yoga, aerobics, and killer abs, among others. This position requires energetic, outgoing, caring, team-oriented, and selfless counselors.

Requirements

  • Must be CPR & First Aid Certified (if not hired, the class will be provided).
  • Must be willing and able to be outside and work in various weather conditions, such as rain or heat.

  • The incumbent must promptly report allegations of sexual misconduct, sexual violence, and child sexual abuse by or against any student, employee, contractor, or visitor to the University’s Title IX Administrator or any divisional Title IX Coordinator.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with elementary and middle school-age children.
  • A passion for sports and fitness.
  • Previous experience either playing and/or coaching organized sports.
  • Ability to remain level-headed, calm, and find solutions to problems that may arise.
  • Ability to interact positively with children and parents.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the supervision of assigned group including but not limited to; sports skills, games, arts & crafts, lunch, swimming, field trips, outdoor adventure, and fitness classes.
  • Assist in equipment and supplies storage, maintenance, and inventory.
  • Maintain a safe learning/playing environment.
  • Follow ALL Summer Camp policies and procedures.
  • Serve as an appropriate POSITIVE ROLE MODEL for the campers.
  • Work closely with colleagues and, when necessary, assist in other capacities to ensure the overall success of our objectives.
