Youth Sports Coach
About The Position
The Jewish Community Center of San Francisco is looking for passionate and enthusiastic individuals interested in coaching in our youth basketball program this winter. Applicants should have basketball coaching experience and/or basketball knowledge and experience working with children ages five to 12 years. The philosophy of the JCCSF youth sports program – known as “Redefine the Score” - is to engage children in learning both sport-specific and life skills in a fun and positive atmosphere. Applicants must be able to embrace these ideas while providing strong leadership and commitment to the program participants.
Requirements
- Proven background in engaging with children aged 5 to 12 years.
- Familiarity with principles of early childhood development is advantageous.
- Proficiency in basketball fundamentals.
- Prior experience as a youth basketball coach is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to excel within a collaborative team setting.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication aptitude.
- Reliable access to independent transportation.
- Commitment to attending all scheduled practices, games, trainings, and meetings.
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with principles of early childhood development is advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Develop practice and game objectives in alignment with the JCCSF youth sports program philosophies.
- Organize and run stimulating practices and games, emphasizing fundamental skill development through positive reinforcement.
- Attend weekday practices and weekend games consistently.
- Provide active guidance during practices and games.
- Mastering and upholding league regulations and protocols.
- Ensuring consistent, open lines of communication with young athletes, parents, fellow coaches, and supervisors.
- Provide weekly updates and communication with Team Parents.
- Fulfilling any supplementary duties as necessitated.
