About The Position

Full-time 40-hour Youth Services Guide at Anythink Nature Library. This role is a blend of customer education, reference advocacy, and event planning. At Anythink, we believe everyone is creative and thrives when discovering passions, collaborating, and becoming creators. The Guide will lead story times, support nature-based learning activities, and design informal learning opportunities both indoors and outdoors, focusing on children, teens, and families. This position requires comfort with nature, including weather and potential encounters with bugs and critters, and a passion for children's collections, innovative programming, and providing an exemplary customer experience.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Create amazing experiences for library customers.
  • Connect customers with the information they seek.
  • Develop and implement outstanding experience zone programs.
  • Serve as a trainer and program coordinator at the branch.
  • Develop and conduct programs, presentations, and workshops.
  • Create participatory experiences for customers.
  • Teach library customers and staff how to use technology, from e-readers to online databases.
  • Serve as the reference go-to person in the library.
  • Design "how-to" training for library customers and staff on library basics (e.g., copier, projector, digital camera interface).
  • Ensure library collections are timely and fresh and displays are refreshed and beautiful.
  • Offer meaningful recommendations of the latest books, movies, and music.
  • Assist library customers on the floor with their library journey.
  • Provide tours of the library and share knowledge about library operations.
  • Teach new users basic computer skills and more advanced technology skills (e.g., creating music, transferring images, creating presentations using STEM philosophy).
  • Make connections that enrich the library customer experience through online resources, creative displays, and transformational programming.
  • Take on lead responsibilities, including person in charge, trainer of staff on operating procedures, and lead over other staff.
  • Reach out to the community by presenting workshops.
  • Serve as the branch liaison to committees, schools, or other task forces.
  • Register customers for library cards, assist with fees, request books, assist in the copy center, and help with basic computer needs.
  • Contribute ideas to District committees.
  • Demonstrate collective integrity in all decisions and actions.
