About The Position

Full-time 40-hour Eco Guide - Anythink Nature Library (Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred). This role is part customer education, part reference advocate, and part event planning. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Presentation or training experience, especially in outdoor environments
  • Continuous learner
  • Digital literacy
  • Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise in sustainability, natural sciences, or outdoor learning preferred
  • MLS or Master's degree preferred
  • Library or bookstore experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Create amazing experiences for library customers.
  • Connect the customer with information they seek.
  • Develop and implement outstanding experience zone programs.
  • Serve as a trainer and program coordinator at the branch.
  • Develop and conduct indoor and outdoor programs, presentations, and workshops and create participatory experiences for customers.
  • Serve as the reference go-to person in the library for nature-based research.
  • Teach library customers and staff how to use technology from e-readers to online databases.
  • Design "how-to" training for library customers and staff on library basics such as copier 101 training, meeting room projector training, and digital camera interface training.
  • Ensure collections are timely and fresh and displays are refreshed and looking beautiful.
  • Make recommendations of the latest books, movies and music.
  • Assist customers on the floor with their library journey.
  • Provide tours of the library, sharing knowledge about library operations.
  • Teach new users about basic computer skills to more techie things like creating music, transferring images from digital cameras, and creating top-quality presentations using STEM philosophy and authentic learning.
  • Make connections that enrich the library customer experience through connecting customers with a variety of online resources, developing creative displays, and creating transformational programming.
  • Take on lead responsibilities, including person in charge, trainer of staff on operating procedures, and lead over other staff.
  • Reach out to the community, presenting workshops for the local area.
  • Serve as the branch liaison to committees, schools or other task forces.
  • Register customers for library cards, help them with fees, request books through RLD or ILL, assist in the copy center, or walk them through basic computer needs.
  • Share great ideas on District committees.
