About The Position

We are looking to add a Youth Safe Spaces Program Manager to our team. As the Youth Safe Spaces Program Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for youth ages 12-24 accessing services. The Youth Safe Spaces program is a peer driven environment providing youth in Tompkins County opportunities to engage with each other and their community in a positive way.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience with Positive Youth Development.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience with the development and supervision of peers.
  • Experience working with youth ages 12-24, including the provision of services in an inclusive and person centered way.
  • Obtain a valid health certificate to meet SJCS or current funding authority requirements as required.
  • Meet SJCS and the funding authority requirement of criminal background and record checks.

  • Experience with Positive Youth Development.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the development and operation of the Youth Safe Spaces program including the hiring, staffing, and training of program staff.
  • Ensures the facility is maintained in a clean and safe manner.
  • Coordinates the timely repair and replacement of items as needed.
  • Works a flexible schedule that is inclusive of evening and weekend hours to support program operation when school is not in session.
  • Develops, trains, and supports a staff of paid Peers while supporting them to achieve the OMH Youth Peer Advocate credentials through Families Together.
  • Engages volunteers to support program operations.
  • Supports youth in forming a Peer Advisory Group that informs program operations.
  • Works with youth to develop, plan, and implement program activities, offering a variety of options for youth engage in activities.
  • Engages community partners to identify opportunities for youth to engage with their community in a meaningful way.
  • Develops partnerships with local treatment and service organizations to support linkage to services.
  • Supports access to program operations through ordering necessary supplies.
  • Ensures aftercare support for youth who age out of program.
  • Supports and applies Positive Youth Development principals.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable local, state, federal, and agency regulations.
  • Collects, sorts, and prepares reports for submission to NYSOMH.
  • Other duties as needed or assigned.
  • Manages food and transportation components in accordance with applicable regulations.
