About The Position

The Parks, Recreation & Leisure Services department is looking for a Youth Program Leader to help organize and lead activities at our community & neighborhood centers. The purpose of this role is to plan, organize, and conduct programs such as before and after school programs, summer day camp, summer playground activities, and other recreational programs. This position works under supervision according to set procedures.

Requirements

• High school graduation or GED.
• A minimum of one (1) year of experience in leading recreational activities.
• Must be 21 years of age or older at time of hire.
• Must obtain basic first aid and CPR certifications within 90 days of hire.
• Must successfully pass a Child Protective Services check and criminal background check related to the position prior to any offer of employment or promotion.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and conduct programs such as before and after school programs, summer day camp, summer playground activities, and other recreational programs.
• Lead activities at community and neighborhood centers.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
• Potentially work shift work to include nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Potentially travel locally.
• Be available as "essential personnel" during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager, which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
