About The Position

Boys & Girls Clubs of Mid Central Coast is looking for dependable, positive people to join our Paso Robles team as Youth Program Leaders. Our official job title is Youth Development Professional, but you don't need to be planning a career working with children to succeed in this role. What matters most is that you enjoy being around people, are willing to jump in and help, can be a positive role model, and want to contribute to your community. Our Youth Program Leaders help create a safe, welcoming, and fun environment for groups of up to 20 children at a time after school. This role offers meaningful part-time work that gets you out from behind a desk, provides experience to strengthen a college application or resume, offers nonprofit or community-service experience, and develops leadership and teamwork skills. It's a way to stay active and connected after retirement, provides supplemental income, and fits alongside school or other commitments. It's an opportunity to meet people and become more involved in your community. Working at the Boys & Girls Club gives you real-world experience that translates to almost any future career, strengthening skills like leadership, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, organization, conflict resolution, professional responsibility, working with different personalities and backgrounds, and planning and facilitating activities. Requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with children is helpful, but it isn't the only thing we're looking for. We're interested in people with different backgrounds, experiences, talents, and interests who can bring something positive to our Club community.

Responsibilities

  • Lead games, sports, art, STEM, or group activities
  • Help students with homework
  • Play a board game or shoot hoops with Club members
  • Help organize an activity or special event
  • Encourage kids to try something new
  • Help young people solve problems and work together
  • Support your coworkers in keeping programs organized and running smoothly
  • Be the positive adult who notices when a child needs encouragement
