About The Position

The Town of East Gwillimbury is seeking a Youth Program Instructor to join the Recreation branch. This role is responsible for the planning, organization, and implementation of recreation activities for youth. Requirements

  • Excellent customer service, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with children/youth, preferably in a recreational setting.
  • Previous experience planning and implementing program plans.
  • Availability/flexibility to work daytime, evenings, and weekends.
  • Valid Standard First Aid & CPR-C Certificate or willing to obtain prior to employment.
  • Due to the nature of this position a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) satisfactory to the Town (Those 17 Years & Older) or the completion of Declaration of Minors – Working with Vulnerable Individuals Self Declaration Form (Those 16 Years and Younger) is required.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead instructional programs for youth.
  • Set-up and clean-up of any supplies needed for the program.
  • Effectively communicate with participants and their parents/guardians, addressing any questions, concerns, complaints, or suggestions about the program; pass on any relevant information to the Recreation Coordinator.
  • Report any issues, concerns, or areas of development to the Recreation Coordinator.
  • Complete administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Provide adaptations and modifications to planned exercises/techniques and/or available equipment where appropriate.
  • Create a welcoming, safe, and positive environment for all participants.
  • All activities are expected to be performed in a safe manner, in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its Regulations, along with Corporate Safety policies, procedures and programs.
  • All necessary personal protective equipment must be used and maintained in good condition.
