About The Position

This position provides extracurricular services as part of Child and Adolescent Programming at Central Regional Hospital. The role involves daily responsibilities within the Wellness program, Live Skills program, alternative programming, and extracurricular activities. The position will also provide coverage within regular academic and group programs as needed. All activities are designed to help children and adolescents develop skills in adaptive living, communication, work, social skills, and academic functioning. The position reports directly to the School Principal under the clinical supervision of the Director of PST.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in human services or related degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of directly related work experience; OR High school or General Educational Development diploma and four years of directly related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Current valid driver's license.
  • Successfully complete all required initial one-time trainings and hospital/clinical orientations.
  • Successful annual completion of hospital training, NVCI training, discipline specific training, and required departmental training.
  • CPR certification and listing as a Nurse Aide I or Nurse Aide II by the NC Division of Health Service Regulation prior to providing direct patient care.
  • Must be able to stand for periods of time, go up and down stairs and be outdoors during field trips.
  • Must have consistent motivation and energy to ensure quality service delivery.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the care of children with psychiatric disorders, children with trauma, behaviors that have the potential to be verbally or physically aggressive, and/or any individual that is Intellectually or Developmentally delayed.
  • Ability to mentor and lead lower level staff.
  • Ability to obtain a CDL license.

Responsibilities

  • Provide extracurricular services as part of Child and Adolescent Programming.
  • Have daily responsibilities within the Wellness program and the Live Skills program.
  • Participate in alternative programming and the extracurricular activities program.
  • Provide coverage within the regular academic and group programs, as needed.
  • Help children and adolescents gain better skills in adaptive living, communication, work, social skills, and academic functioning.
  • Plan and lead classes and/or sports, field trips, skills-based groups, patient meetings and other activities.
  • Drive an 8-passenger van.
  • Be at the hospital during an adverse weather event when that team is up.
  • Perform weekend work 3-4 times per year.
