About The Position

Behavioral Health Coaches provide direct support and facilitate daily programming activities for intellectually/developmentally disabled children, teens, and young adults who exhibit extreme behavioral challenges. Job duties include but are not limited to: providing supervision and ensuring safety of individuals, assisting in educational and/or vocational programming, facilitating indoor/outdoor leisure activities and encouraging participation, crisis-intervention which includes de-escalation of aggressive individuals and, at times, physical interventions, facilitate goals in areas of grooming, hygiene, dining, and residential skills to promote independence, participate in Community outings, assisting individuals in areas of daily living skills while promoting their independence, transportation when needed for school, outings, appointment, writing monthly progress notes for goals and recording of behavior data, meal preparation and following nutrition guidelines and coaching in areas of social skills, community safety awareness, problem solving. This Position Is Designated As Mandatory And Must Report Or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in human services or related degree from an appropriately accredited institution; OR High school or General Educational Development diploma and two years of directly related experience; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be in good standing with the North Carolina Health Care Personnel Registry.
  • Must report or stay over during adverse weather events.

Responsibilities
