About The Position

The Youth Program Coordinator oversees the development, planning, and execution of a diverse range of age-appropriate activities during out-of-school time, including after-school and summer periods. Additionally, the role involves supervising personnel and ensuring accurate completion of reports required for compliance purposes. Emphasis will be placed on program knowledge for youth development and engagement, and organizational and leadership skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Youth Development, Social Work, or a related field
  • Two (2) years of previous experience working with children and youth in a formal educational or recreational setting
  • Leadership experience
  • Ability to motivate and empower staff to achieve program goals
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
  • Knowledge of positive reinforcement techniques, conflict resolution, and de-escalation.
  • Knowledge of age-appropriate activities and enjoy working with all age groups.
  • Knowledge of Outlook, internet applications, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint applications.
  • Knowledge of developing and implementing engaging activities tailored to the age and interests of youth participants.
  • Skilled in written and verbal communication
  • Skilled in problem-solving abilities to identify challenges, assess needs, and implement solutions in real-time
  • Ability to interact effectively with members, guests, and staff of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and education levels.
  • Ability to develop and implement engaging activities, based on the youth’s age, that stimulate curiosity, creativity, and learning.
  • Ability to lead and work hands-on in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with members, guests, clients, and employees.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements a comprehensive schedule of engaging, age-appropriate programs for youth during out-of-school time, including afterschool and seasonal programming, using youth development best practices to support positive outcomes.
  • Coordinate with staff to ensure activities are effectively planned and executed in accordance with established guidelines, safety protocols, and program standards.
  • Supervises and supports program staff by providing day-to-day guidance, coaching, and training to ensure consistent, high-quality program delivery; staffing oversight expands during peak seasons to support increased program activity.
  • Monitors program activities to evaluate effectiveness, identify areas for improvement, and implement adjustments that enhance program quality and participant engagement.
  • Maintains accurate and timely program records, including attendance, activity documentation, and incident reports, and periodically supports compliance reviews, grant reporting, or audits by providing reliable program data as required.
  • Communicates regularly with program leadership to provide updates on program operations, challenges, outcomes, and notable achievements.
  • Fosters positive relationships with parents and caregivers through timely communication, solicitation of feedback, and professional resolution of questions or concerns.
  • Collaborates with community partners and stakeholders to expand program offerings, coordinate resources, and strengthen overall program impact for youth and families.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
