About The Position

The Salvation Army is seeking a Youth Program Assistant who demonstrates a passion for working with children and young adults in a learning environment. This role involves offering spiritual support and discipleship training to youth, creating and implementing outreach opportunities within the community, assisting with food preparation and program area maintenance, and ensuring timely communication with parents/guardians. The position also focuses on discipleship, leadership development, and assisting in the planning and execution of various youth programs, worship services, events, and summer camp activities. Additionally, the role includes administrative duties such as maintaining the youth calendar, preparing promotional materials, and completing statistical reports.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least two years of experience working with youth in a Corps/church setting.
  • Must be supportive of the mission of TSA.
  • Must attend services, programs and other events as required.
  • Must collaborate as a team player, be supportive of attendees/supervising groups, and operate within professional conduct standards.
  • Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License.
  • Must be able to drive a Salvation Army vehicle.
  • Must complete the Salvation Army vehicle course training.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older to drive a Salvation Army vehicle.
  • Must provide consent to a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
  • Must pass a Criminal Background Check and DOJ LiveScan.

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement outreach opportunities for youth and young adults within the community, including local schools and partnerships.
  • Assist with food preparation, serving, and cleaning up for Youth programming.
  • Ensure all program areas are clean and maintained.
  • Ensure timely communication with parents/guardians of those in Youth programming.
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings and trainings.
  • Focus on discipleship for Youth, including the development of Lay Leaders and Volunteers, with an emphasis on spiritual formation and inclusion of spiritual principles.
  • Assist in planning Corps Council meetings, Jr. & Sr. Pastoral care meetings, and visitation.
  • Assist in planning worship services.
  • Take an active role in the leading of worship.
  • Promote and organize youth participation in events and retreats hosted by the Division and Territory, including VBS, sports-centric programming, weekly chapel, Children's 5, YPL, Corps Cadets, Troops Youth Programming / TSA Programming, Commissioning, Rallies/Enrollments/Youth Meetings.
  • Assist with the promotion and organization of The Salvation Army Roseville summer camp programs, including transportation.
  • Assist Corps Officers with PTM compliance items, including property and program concerns, paperwork, and training.
  • Prepare promotional material (flyers, posters, videos, registrations, etc.) for all corps youth and young adult related events.
  • Perform clerical duties including maintaining the Youth calendar, weekly statistics, monthly reporting for Youth, and daily correspondence.
