Somerset West Community Health Centre (SWCHC) is a non-profit, community-governed organization established in 1978, serving over 18,000 clients annually. Requirements

Experience working directly with child and youth
Experience and flexibility working in diverse community-based programs with families facing multiple health risks and barriers
Post secondary education in a related field
Fluency in English required
Criminal Reference check for working with vulnerable populations
Current CPR level C, First Aid
Adequate energy level and ability to meet the physical demands of the job
Strong knowledge of child development and behaviour guidance techniques
Effective at communicating and problem solving

Nice To Haves

Working knowledge of French
Food Handlers and High Five Certification

Responsibilities

Direct service with children 6-12 years at an After School Program
Assists to plan programs that enhance cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development
Implements and assists to monitor, and evaluate community based programs
Assists to register and maintain files and daily attendance for each child registered and participating in community based program
Provide updates and contacts parents when necessary
Monitor and maintain/purchase adequate supplies and equipment for programming
Create linkages with available community resources i.e. local schools, recreation centres
Ensure all program safety measures are being met
Works closely with volunteers and student placements
