About The Position

Chinese Mutual Aid Association is seeking a Youth Partnerships Coordinator to provide programmatic support for CMAA’s Youth Department. The Youth Partnerships Coordinator will lead outreach and recruitment for CMAA’s mentoring programs, Young Women Warriors & Young Men Making Moves, as well as provide daily support for teen interns in CMAA’s Diverse Young Leaders after-school program. This includes recruitment planning, program administration, and providing direct supervision to teen interns. This position must be able to work two Saturdays per month. The ideal candidate will be outgoing, strategic, and committed to serving immigrant-origin and BIPOC youth. They will need to be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment and manage relationships with both teens and adults. This position is an excellent opportunity to learn about and support under-resourced communities and to contribute to a high-energy team dedicated to supporting Uptown’s immigrant, refugee, and BIPOC youth.

Requirements

  • Relevant experience working with teens and families
  • The ability to engage both teens and adults effectively
  • The ability to work with diverse populations, specifically immigrant and refugee communities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Experience with public speaking is a plus, but not required
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks over short periods of time
  • Bachelor’s degree or some college education preferred, but not required
  • Reliable transportation. A valid driver’s license with access to a car is a plus, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, screen, and onboard mentors and mentees for CMAA’s mentoring programs, ensuring alignment with program goals and youth needs.
  • Lead outreach efforts to engage youth participants and families through school partnerships, community events, and program information sessions.
  • Build and maintain strong, positive relationships with youth participants and their families to support recruitment and ongoing engagement.
  • Collaborate with internal staff and community partners to promote mentoring programs and increase awareness of program opportunities.
  • Assist with coordinating recruitment efforts for academic support services, including tutoring, workshops, and enrichment opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate recruitment and intake records and support department tracking and reporting needs.
  • Represent the organization at community events, meetings, and networking opportunities to expand mentor and youth engagement pipelines.
  • Collaborate with the Youth Department Manager to recruit, hire, train, and support teen interns
  • Complete all compliance requirements, including attendance records, site visits, and organizational preparation.
  • Partner with the Senior Mentoring Coordinator and program participants to plan program activities and annual program retreats.
  • Attend biweekly skill development workshops and recreational activities. Must be able to work Friday evenings and Saturdays.
  • Support mentors through guidance and training as needed, and engage outside experts to provide professional mentor development opportunities.
  • Lead the initial orientation or info-session for new mentors and new mentees.
  • Develop scholar and professional development services, meeting one-on-one with high school junior and senior mentees to help craft postsecondary goals, and develop community partnerships to identify services for mentees to engage in, including internship experiences and college scholarship opportunities.
  • Actively network within the community to identify, engage, and recruit potential career partners.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Youth Department Manager.
