Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred, plus one to two years experience in related human service field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong communication, organizational and event planning.
• Public speaking and excellent communication skills as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet agency auto insurance requirements.
• Must successfully complete all agency background checks. Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• The LSS In-School Mentoring Program partners with over 60 schools in the Sioux Falls area as well as Flandreau and Aberdeen to connect adult volunteer mentors with students.
• The Coordinator plays a vital role in overseeing this program, supporting more than 1,000 mentors each year.
• The primary point of contact for partner schools - communicating regularly with school personnel about mentor status, tracking mentor/student matches and monitoring mentor attendance.
• This position also leads all new mentor training sessions for in-school mentors.
• The Coordinator provides ongoing support to volunteers through regular communications and monthly training opportunities.
• Additionally, this role assists in mentor recruitment, retention and recognition efforts.
