Our comprehensive range of programs and services relies on collaborative relationships with individuals, businesses, community groups and government bodies to create focused, effective and responsive resources for the community. Join our Youth Services Program as a Youth Outreach Worker, helping youth (ages 16-19) connected with the Ministry of Children and Family Development build skills for success in areas like health, employment, and education. In this role, you’ll work one-on-one with youth to develop goal-driven plans, assist with problem-solving, connect them to community resources, and advocate when needed. Reporting to the Program Manager, our selected candidate will support youth in goal setting, skill development, and problem-solving to reduce crisis situations. Responsibilities include building rapport, assessing needs, providing life skills instruction, and making appropriate referrals to community resources. The worker will liaise with professionals and agencies, maintain documentation, and contribute to public relations and program development. The role also involves identifying positive activities to engage youth, advocating and mentoring, and linking youth with ongoing support. The position requires teamwork, adherence to directives, and fostering a positive work environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience working with youth facing emotional, social, and behavioral challenges.
  • Current Basic First Aid certificate.
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and interpersonal).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Cultural sensitivity.
  • Effectiveness in a team environment.
  • Commitment to problem-solving and confidentiality.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Reliable vehicle.
  • Undergo a Police Information Check (PIC).
  • Undergo a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice.
