About The Position

The Youth Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for assisting the Youth Recovery Coach with recruiting and organizing youth for the SOR initiative at the CORE Center. This role involves speaking publicly on behalf of the SOR project and advocating for the rights of youth in recovery. Requirements

• Personal “lived experience” with recovery (3 years or more of sustained recovery) and/or previous Criminal Legal System issues strongly preferred.
• Prior community organizing, or related experience preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Peer supervisory skills.
• Computer literacy (word processing, e-mail, internet research, data entry) required.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
• Requires evening and weekend hours as determined by OASAS, CCA/CORE Centers’ guidelines.
• Possess a valid NYS Driver’s License.
• Reliable transportation to transport participants.
• Appropriate level of auto insurance as required by CCA (i.e., $100,000, $300,000, $100,000 personal auto insurance coverage).
• Requires rigorous background check.
• Ability to be “vetted” to work with Youth.

• Bachelors’ degree preferred but work experience may substitute for academic qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Recruit Youth to become participants in the SOR initiative.
• Develop outreach plans for locations and activities intended to recruit Youth, with the assistance of the Director, SOR Youth Recovery Coach, and other key project staff.
• Assist with recruitment, training, and support for Youth to work on community outreach projects.
• Ensure the accomplishment of goals, objectives, and deliverables required by NYS OASAS/SOR administrators for all Youth activities and services, along with key project staff.
• Assist with coordination and facilitation of Youth Leadership Training Modules, if needed.
• Attend community stakeholder meetings on behalf of the SOR initiative as directed.
• Assist Youth in the delivery of Peer Recovery Support Services (PRSS), if needed.
• Serve as a liaison with community groups interested in building Recovery Capital for Youth.
• Offer presentations to community groups and testify at public hearings and community forums on issues related to the goals and objectives of the Youth program.
• Assist with project data collection and timely completion of program reports to funders.
• Maintain data as required and issue reports as requested.
• Attend training programs, as assigned by the Project Director.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Director.
