About The Position

The Youth Opportunities Coordinator is a member of the Children Youth and Families Transition Age Youth (TAY) division. They will work with eligible youth to promote programs offered by the Department of Human Services and create opportunities to help empower youth. The Youth Opportunities Coordinator is responsible for providing administrative support and assisting with the implementation of programming/trainings developed and led by the Youth Opportunities team. This role supports core initiatives that promote youth voice, leadership, and skill-building across the department. Asset Matching Program (AMP): A financial literacy program geared toward transition age youth (TAY), ages 14-23, that will match dollar-for-dollar up to $5,000 toward an asset. Speakers Bureau: Program to build skills in strategic sharing, self-advocacy, and positive self-expression for youth ages 14-23. Systems Improvement Through Youth (SITY): An advisory board of youth, ages 14-23, with previous DHS experience who help improve services. The Youth Opportunities Coordinator may also be required to assist with additional youth opportunities that arise, as identified by the Youth Opportunities Supervisor and Transition Age Youth (TAY) Manager. If hired for this position, you would be an employee of our partner agency, Community Family Advocates working onsite at Allegheny County DHS.

Responsibilities

Recruits youth involved with DHS systems; informs them about opportunities through DHS and supports youth participants in these initiatives and keeps them engaged.
Serves as a liaison between youth, DHS staff and provider staff regarding participation and
Maintains regular contact with youth (face to face, electronic, via social media) to check progress and provide assistance.
Maintains social media outlets and other forms of communication to support various projects and youth engagement opportunities.
Works with community partners who offer services for
Engages and supports youth involvement and
Participates in collaborative efforts with DHS colleagues and partners for planning to support youth programming, and to provide technical assistance, as needed.
Collaborate with Youth Opportunities staff to ensure high-quality programming and positive youth experiences.
Help coordinate special events, projects, and one-time opportunities for youth
Assist in coordination, scheduling, communication, and documentation related to program and training activities.
Provide administrative support for all Youth Opportunities programming and
Assists in coordinating the administration and implementation of the financial education training and enrollment.
Coordinates and assists participants in completing paperwork required for program
Teaches financial literacy & wellness
Assists with completing youth “matches” for financial
Completes contact notes on who attended financial
Collects and enters data on multiple
Provides monthly and yearly reports and informs partners about youth progress in the
Assist with the facilitation and logistical planning including youth engagement, scheduling, and materials
Assist with coordinating meetings, tracking action items, and ensuring follow-up
Attend meetings and co-facilitate programming and activities as
Responsible for submitting requests for youth transportation, meals, and
Maintain organized records, files, and reports in alignment with departmental standards.
